Dan Schutt was born and raised in Richmond, VA, and has performed thousands of live shows with acts like Morningside, The Shack Band, and, most recently, as the band leader of “The Dan Schutt Band” (established 2016). Over the past years, the band has cultivated a strong and dedicated local following and has performed nearly 100 shows each year. As a solo performer, Dan performs original music as well as covers written by artists like Jimmy Buffet, The Grateful Dead, Sublime, and many more!

Aggressive Folk Rock - Earthy, edgy, independent music for independent minds since 1998. Based in Virginia, Mercy Creek performs original music they call aggressive folk rock. Singer/guitarist Cheryl Nystrom Ball and songwriting partner/drummer Jim Ball combine elements of modern folk, world beat, rock, and hints of blues and bluegrass to create music that is fresh and unique. From world beat to folk, the musical styles used in Mercy Creek’s songs are anchored by Cheryl’s beautiful voice and intelligent lyrics. Mercy Creek has released 8 independent albums and has been a full-time performing act since 1998, playing across the country at clubs, festivals, and concerts.

Room for Improvement (RFI) formed amid the pandemic when a group of close friends gathered on Sunday afternoons in a socially distant setting to play music. Initially, the group was small, and the focus was on identifying what style of music RFI would play. As restrictions eased, additional band members were added who had significant prior experience in bands such as Hedley Lamar, The Mix, Synaptic Gap, and 2.3 Children. With these additions and regular practice sessions, RFI evolved into a fun, well-respected band that can rip through a set of classic rock and blues songs (and a few 80s hair band tunes thrown in for fun). RFI will never forget its humble beginnings and strives to make each show the best one yet!

A true product of the Richmond, Virginia music scene, Sayer’s Brew band members met while performing together for several years in School of Rock’s House Band. Owen Sayer, Thomas Viggiani, Olivia Viggiani, and Cactus Kelly joined a music production workshop in the summer of 2024 and teamed up to write what would become Sayer’s Brew’s first song, “Nothing More Than Me." Owen writes the lyrics and takes on lead vocals and keyboard for the band. Thomas plays guitar, and Olivia is on bass. Cactus adds the beats on the drums. Their full repertoire of original songs includes influences from rock and pop to ragtime, funk, and jazz, resulting in a fresh and original sound that expands beyond any genre. The band is currently working on recording their first album at In Your Ear studios. In the meantime, you can get the full experience at live gigs throughout RVA.

Kornfield Kounty is a traditional country music band from Richmond, Virginia. Inspired by the country music they grew up on, these five friends and musicians have come together to share some of the greatest country music of all time – reminiscent of WXGI radio in Richmond and the exciting Old Dominion Barn Dance performances. The name “Kornfield Kounty” is a nod to one of the longest-running variety shows in TV history, Hee Haw, that featured some of country music’s greatest artists, including Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, Mel Tillis, Johnny Rodriguez, Tom T. Hall, and many more. The musicians of Kornfield Kounty are Tony Cook on lead guitar and vocals, Bob Lancaster on pedal steel guitar, Danny Hughes on bass guitar and vocals, Spencer Hughes (Danny’s son!) on drums, and Chris Fuller on rhythm guitar and vocals. The goal of Kornfield Kounty is to keep traditional country music alive and have fun watching their audiences kick up some sawdust on the dance floor!

Influenced by legends like the Flying Burrito Brothers and Bob Dylan, alongside modern acts such as Wilco and Futurebirds, he delivers a sound that feels both timeless and fresh. His performances pair thoughtful storytelling with warm, melodic songwriting.

Featuring a majority of cover songs, this fingerstyle guitarist delivers a relaxed, atmospheric listening experience. By playing both the melody and chord structure simultaneously—much like a pianist would—each song comes to life instrumentally, enhanced by light percussive techniques on the guitar body.

Hammaville is a vibrant bluegrass band based in Virginia that brings traditional Appalachian music into a modern setting with rich harmonies, dynamic instrumentation (banjo, mandolin, guitar, bass), and energetic live performances. They’re known for blending classic bluegrass with contemporary influences and have played at regional festivals and events across the area.

Josh Duncan Band is a modern country band from Richmond, VA.

The Skipjack Band is comprised of seven seasoned musicians who share a passion for the Chesapeake Bay and a passion for playing a wide variety of good music. They play a very diverse music list from the 60's to the 2000's. They love good harmonies and dueling guitar/sax solos. If you are looking for a fun jam band, look no further. NashAngeles, where country and rock meet in the middle. That's what happens when you bring Kristen Daniel and Josh Misner together in one, band. Kristen toured all over the world, sang with Billy Currington, charted in Europe, played for the troops during Operation Desert Storm and recorded an album on Nashville Row with A-list musicians and the legendary producer Kenny Beard. Josh has honed his skill performing all throughout the Southeast for the past 20 years with legendary bands, such as Bill Deal and The Rhondels, The Fat Ammons Band, The Entertainers, and The Embers. These are some seriously talented veteran performers who are certain to provide something for everyone with their wide range of music.
